Hi -- I am a total gardening/landscaping newb, but we are buying a house this spring and one of the homes we are interested in would need some trees to give us a bit more privacy. I am looking at Leyland Cypress trees since they seem to be the most popular, and wanted to get others' thoughts on them...what height did you buy them at, how much did they cost, did you plant them yourself? Any and all info is welcome. Thanks!
Re: Leyland Cypress Trees
I was looking at them yesterday at the nursery. I think we are going to plant them.
The plus side is they grow quickly. 4+' a year.
The small 18" ones were about $7/ea. The get more expensive the bigger they are.
I'm tempted to get smaller ones because I'm cheap but also the root ball will be small and thus easier to plant since we have heavy red clay soil.
The downside is they are prone to disease.
I like them because they provide good screening without taking up too much space.
