Help me brainstorm! 1st Birthday party!

So my daughter is going to be 1 on St. Patrick's day...

I'm trying to think of stuff for her party

So far I've come up with a theme of "Luck" or "Lucky to be One"

like gold coins, rainbows, horse shoes, wishbones, fortune cookies....etc.

I was thinking of making a rainbow cake or rainbow cupcakes and a small smash cake. Making glass block jello bars, croissant sandwiches maybe....

anyways, for decorations I was thinking of gold and green tissue paper pom poms...

any other good ideas? I'm at a loss, all I can think of is beer, drinking, leprechauns...ugh this is harder than I thought it was going to be!

Re: Help me brainstorm! 1st Birthday party!

  • Here is a super cute St. Patty's Day party you can get a lot of inspiration from.

Here is a rainbow birthday party that is so cute...maybe lean a little heavier on the rainbows since she the party is for a girl?

Here is my recipe for mini rainbow cupcakes.
    Hope that helps a little....

  • Usually I'm not all about themes with food, but making rice crispy treats using lucky charms could be really cute.

As far as the rest of the menu for "real" food, I would consider your guests and location, i.e. How many attending?, Do you have the ability to cook and/or keep things warm?, What time of day?, etc. This will help you to coordinate a menu as well as give others parameters to work within while sharing ideas.

  • Hi!  As the pp mentioned depending on time of day, location etc.. I would make either a Shepherd's Pies or other Irish/Continental "Pub" type foods.  Also... Corned Beef boiled in beer with cabbage, potatoes etc. would be traditional.

If you can't keep things warm... maybe order 6' sandwiches made with corned beef, sauerkraut etc.

Good Luck and please follow-up with pictures.

    :)

  • Theme-wise, there's also "Luck Be a (Little) Lady" or "I'm the Lucky ONE".  Those rainbow cupcakes posted above are gorgeous!!

I assume that most party-goers will be adults, so maybe you could have a 'lucky horseshoes" tournament in the backyard?  Lotto tickets to the winners!

    Shamrock face-painting!

My daughter's favorite decoration (okay, her favorite part of her entire first birthday party) was the balloons, so I would suggest getting a few of those in whatever colors go with your decor.
