How to get a URL for a song?

I have a gadget on my desktop and can add a custom tune/song, but it's asking for the URL. Does anyone know how to get this?

I have tons of mp3 files, but not sure how to get to the URL?

Re: How to get a URL for a song?

  • Can you Browse for the song? Maybe that's the URL?

It's an iGoogle gadget called "alarm clock", and it says you can input a custom tune via URL...

  • Ok, so I think you need to upload a song from your hard drive (probably in mp3 format) to the web via some sort of hosting service.  Kinda like tinypic or tinyurl, if you use those.  Google "upload mp3 to url" and you'll find several hosting services.  Having never used them and not wanting to lead you astray with whatever copyright beliefs you adhere to, can't recommend anything specific.

  • That means you have to use a sound clip that is located online.

  • URLs are mostly used for online stuff. For stuff on your computer you could try to create one. In your browser (I only tested this in Firefox) you can go to File -> Open and then browse to where the file is on your computer. Then once it is open you can see the URL in the top bar and you can copy and paste it to your Google app.
