Question re: pregnancy and feeling full

Hey Girls! Did any of you ever notice when pregnant that you would eat a small-ish meal or small snack, feel satisfied, then as the hours go by, you feel more and more full, even though you stopped eating a while ago??

It is so strange! I'm only 18wks, but I'm careful not to eat too much in a sitting, b/c it'll make me feel sick. What I find strange though, is that I'll stop before ever feeling full, but a half hour to hour later, I begin to feel even more full, almost painfully so. (When I tried googling this, I got a lot of hits on "full term" pregnancy and that stuff, and also about eating smaller meals while pregnant). I'm more wondering about feeling progressively more full, even though you stopped eating a long time ago. Thanks!!

Re: Question re: pregnancy and feeling full

  • I had this issue, and basically I was told to do what you are doing.  Eat smaller meals during the day.  Graze all day.  It eventually stopped in a few weeks.  Really everything is moving around in there to make way for baby and all sorts of things get squished.  I, of course, was paranoid it was my gallbladder which he did check and was fine.  If you're that concerned (especially with the pain) I would bring it up at your next appt.
  • Ok, I feel normal then :-)  The pain is really just an "I'm too full" pain...I'll continue to eat little things...I just get SO hungry, its hard ;-) Thanks!
  • i was always full. i just forced myself to eat meals or snack on healthy things all day. i'm pretty sure it happens because all your organs get smooshed up when your uterous expands.

  • This was definitely something I experienced around 18 weeks.  Sometimes it happens now but it was every time for a few weeks there!

  • Jill-- it definitely has seemed worse this week. Good to know it might go away!!  I ate a carrot and a cracker and feel painfully full! Little Baby, stop it! ;-)
  • Oh yeah, eat 3 bites and then get full. Perfectly normal. I just wish that was  still the case!
