So I might be a little late in making a post about this...

... since this movie has been out for quite some time now, but can we just discuss "Sex & the City 2" for a second? I've been meaning to catch it for awhile, but just haven't gotten around to it until tonight. Clinton is catching up on that "Gold Rush Alaska" show (which I can't take seriously because they say "glory hole" every ten seconds), and I'm all curled up next to him watching the ultimate chick flick on my laptop. I'm about an hour and 45 minutes into it now, watching Samantha learn to smoke a hookah, and I just have to say I'm disappointed. :(

I LOVED the series & own most of the seasons on DVD. The first movie wasn't as epicly awesome as I'd hoped, but I didn't hate it. But this movie is pretty much crap. I feel like all the things I loved about these four women when I was watching the show in high school in college are gone. They're not cool, smart sexy women anymore. Charlotte spends the whole movie crying about how hard it is to be a mother, when she has full time live in help & no other job I don't think. Samantha is like, this exaggerated version of what used to make her funny, and she's freaking out about menopause & smearing yams on her face. Carrie is a super snot who actually picked a fight with her husband for getting her a big plasma TV instead of jewelry for their anniversary. Miranda actually isn't bugging me, but there's about half an hour left so there's still time.

Stanford & Anthony's wedding was cute. And I was pumped to see Aiden looking all handsome (but surprisingly old!). But then even he ticked me off, and there's really no time left in the movie for him to redeem himself. Boo! I'm sure I'm not the only one who's seen this & has an opinion on it. Anyone else?

ETA: Miranda just ticked me off screeching about the possibility of flying back to the US "IN COACH!"  The annoyance has come full circle. Meh.

  • I completely agree!  I love all things SATC, but SATC2 was a disappointment.  I won't say that I hate it, but I will say it was overdone. It seemed like a bunch of 50 year old ladies trying to act like they were 20, and you are right - everything annoying about each one of them was magnified in this movie.  I won't be buying it (though I might watch it on late night cable if it came on.)

  • I loved the T.V. Show...and the 1st movie, BUT the second one just sucked Big balls...there's no way to sugar coat it. they could have just saved them selves all the money and time. Wish I could get the time I spent watching it back.

  • I haven't seen it...haven't seen any of the series either.  Never really interested me.

  • I agree, I LOVE SATC, but the second movie was awful.  Samantha was always my favourite, but she felt desperate in the 2nd movie.

This!  I loved the series (have several of them on DVD), have the first movie on DVD, but this one seemed like each of the girls said "I want to try this extravagant thing" and none of the producers cared that each of the different ideas didn't work with the other ones.  Won't be buying this one...
