New to this board & a question
Hi ladies. We are getting to list our house on the market in about 2 weeks. Our garden right now is 1/2 done. We have the plants (rose bushes, etc) and a backing material to keep weeds out down. In the interest of time & cost, what would you recommend putting over the backing?
Mulch? Small rocks? If you were a prospective home buyer what do you think would be appealing to you?
Any advice/suggestions would be welcomed! TIA!

I'd just do the mulch. The rocks would deter me as a buyer because I'd need to pull them up in order to plant anything. Plus, the mulch will be less expensive than rocks.
What type of weed block did you put down? If you haven't put anything down yet, I'd suggest doing a biodegradable weed fabric (they sell a paper type material at the big box stores). Ripping up weed fabric to plant is not fun.

You make a good point. This is the second house that I've bought, and as soon as we get it on the market (and hopefully sell it soon!) it will be the second I've sold. I forget to think like I was when I was a buyer for things like this. I think we are going to go w/ mulch.
The weed backing has been there for years; I honestly couldn't even tell you what it is, but I know it pulls up and replaces extremely easily. We have taken it up multiple times when we went back year after year to plant new items and its been the easiest part of the process; it def keeps the weeds away and the plants get a good amount of water.
