Poor Sasha!!

Hi ladies!

I wrote on Monday how sasha seemed down and depressed the last few days.   She's been low energy and had super sad eyes.  She was whining a bit monday night, so yesterday DH and I decided to surprise her by going home for lunch.  We took a long lunch and hung out with her.   She still seemed pretty down.

Last night I gave her one of her favorite bones,  really didn't seem into it.   She was eating fine.   She followed me around and just was all sad and droopy.   It was breaking my heart!  I was about to call the rescue up and bring roxy back.

Then DH got home and we were trying to get her to play with her favorite tug toy, and she wasn't in to that either.  Dh finally got her to play and then we heard this crack and then something flung across the room.   I went to check it out and it was her tooth!

Then we looked over and she had blood gushing out her mouth.  Her tooth broke off right at the top along the gum line!!!

OUUUUUUUUUCHIE!!!!!

It was a long night.  She was in soooooo much pain and crying all night.  There's blood all over her bed and her white fur is stained with it.

I got up super early this morning and called the surgeon that amputated nala's leg.  He said to bring her in right away.   After being there for several hours.   We decided to have him cap it off and give her pain meds and antibotics.   If it gets infected we have to put her into surgery to have it cut out.  If it doesn't hopefully the pain will subside once the tooth dies.   He said after a week if she still doesn't want to play then we have to do the surgery.

Poor sasha!   I didn't have time to run her all the way home so I dropped her off at doggy day care by my work.  Usually she LOVES the place and runs in.  Today she didn't want to get out of the car.   She just looked at me like, "mom..... I'm sick, please dont make me go in there."   Poor girl.

I told them and showed them what happened.  They said if she seems to be having a really hard time with the other dogs, they'll let her go upstairs and sleep.

What a crazy morning!

At least now I know that she wasn't sad about roxy, she was in pain from a crazy tooth ache!

Re: Poor Sasha!!

  • Poor baby!?Praying for her quick relief from the tooth pain.?

I remember when Mightydog got sick when he was just a pup (this was prebaby days) I couldn't think of leaving him alone at home so I actually did call work and told them that my dog was sick and had to stay home. After taking him to the vet to find out why he was not his usual energetic self ?it turns out that he was running a fever...but I forget why.

  • (((Hugs))) to all of you. Man, you have had your share of bad pet luck lately. I'm glad to hear that you were able to get her into the vet. Here's hoping for a quick recovery and happy days ahead!
  • Yea i know!  Between Romeo dying last year  at age 5 from his weird heart disease,  Nala getting cancer and having to amputate her leg, and now sasha!

DH says.... and you REALLY wanted another dog????????????????

I think he's right.  We've spent a small fortune at the vet the last 2 years, so maybe we should hold off on a play buddy for sasha.

  • Oh no!  Poor Sasha!  I hope the pain goes away, the meds kick in, and she's back to being her playful self soon.  Glad you all have each other to get thru the challenges and I hope you're all back to 100% soon!  I'm cheering for you all!!!  XOXOXO
  • Poor Sasha! I hope she's feeling better soon.
