Did any of you girls take classes? If so did you love them? I really would love to take some classes, but I need to find someplace close to home. Does anyone have any recommendations in the Chelsmford/Westford/Acton/Bedford area? Thanks!
Re: prenatal yoga
I was thinking about taking a (regular) yoga class this winter to have some physical activity (since I don't belong to a gym and can't run outside) but never did. There was one place near my house that had good reviews and I also noticed the Rec Dept offered some classes as well.
I'm sure your town's Rec Dept probably offered some sort of yoga classes, but maybe not prenatal. I also use google (maps) to find places near a certain location. Sometimes there are reviews right on google, or you can search the name of the place and find some other reviews (like on yelp or yellow pages, etc).
I did a quick search and found that Lowell General has a prenatal yoga class.
I'm not sure where you're planning to deliver, but if it isn't Lowell General you can check that hospital too.
I checked our town, and they offer regular yoga. It is so strange, but all the yoga studios I have found in the area do not offer prenatal. I am going to keep googling. Thanks!
I saw that. The times for those classes do not work with my schedule. I would never be able to make it there on time.
I was wondering the same thing, but couldn't remember the exact time you got out.
I checked Emerson but couldn't find any info.
Yeah that is where I am delivering, and they don't offer prenatal. They do have this other exercise class that is for expectant moms. I plan to take that once I get closer to the end so I can meet other moms that will be due around the same time I am.
I was really interested in it when I was pg, but I never found a class anywhere near me. I can think of multiple yoga studios in my general area, and not one of them offered prenatal yoga
I think they're really missing a big market!
I did and I loved it! It was one time each week that I had a chance to relax and have time for myself. I enjoyed talking with other women who were pregnant and going through similar things. I also think the breathing and stretches I learned there helped me way more with the pregnancy and labor process than the short exercises I was taught at my 2 day "you're having a baby" class. I think I missed a lot of the typical pregnancy aches and pains because I stretched them out with yoga.
The place where we had class our instructor always told us that if we had to miss the prenatal class we could come to any of her other classes and just opt of our stretches that we didn't feel comfortable with/ let the instructor know we were pregnant and she could have told us which stretches to avoid (at least early on ... you will reach a point where you know your body well enough to know which moves to alter on your own.)
When she opened she didn't have a prenatal class but enough people stopped by to ask about one that she created it for us. Are you just looking at their schedule or have you gone in/called to ask about a class? If there is enough interest they may be able to start a class.
I have just been looking at schedules available online. I will email/call a couple of the yoga studios around here to see what I can find out. How different are the prenatal classes than the regular classes?
