we're moving!

Not far... But we're moving to a new house very soon. It's very close to our house now. It's a little smaller, but it has a huge backyard. I'm excited!

It's a long story, but basically when K was laid off and then took that job where he made less than 1/2 of what he usually made eventually we couldn't afford our note. The bank gave us the advice not to try to make any payments so that we show a need for a modification. So then when we started making more money,  we let them know and put together the modification. When it came back we were sad to see that they want more than double our regular note for like a year. We can't afford that. They won't back down. They put it up for foreclosure. We decided to sign over the deed and be done.

So, we're walking away and getting a rent house. I'm not even sad about it at this point.  I'm ready to move on. I know that our credit might not be very pretty for a little while, but we're on track to pay off everything else in the next 18 months. We plan to move again in about 18 months anyway. We'll rent again then too if we have to. We're not buying again for a long time.

Anyway, just wanted to let you all know what was going on. Try not to judge...things happen!

I may be MIA for a few days next week until we get internet set up at the new house.

Re: we're moving!

  • Wow...big changes!  I'm sorry to hear about the foreclosure...that sucks.  :(

    Good luck with your move!!

  • Sounds like you're doing what's best for you guys and it'll make your life so much easier that way! We want new pics of your new house!!!
  • it does suck that they wouldn't work with us any further. Their website list allll these options, but in reality they wouldn't back down. I'm not exactly sure and I hate to think this way, but I think it may be because we owe a good bit less than what the house is worth. They know they can sell it and get what we owe.

It was very frustrating b/c the bank we made the loan with that we have a relationship with sold it to a bank that we have no relationship with and there was no person the speak with face to face..

We've been dealing with this for over a year. I'm D.O.N.E! Kelvin is pissed at himself b/c he feels like he didn't support us, but I'm trying to get him to understand that a lot of this was beyond his control and he did everything he could. We lived and learned that's for sure!

I only have an outside one right now, but the inside is BEAUTIFUL so I'll get some of the inside asap.

  • Just sent you a long FB message : )  I'm so glad that you were able to find something so quickly and so close to your current home.  And it seems like you are taking this very well!  I wish I could take a page out of your book cause I am a big ball of stress.  The more I look into renting though, the more I think it really is a good option with the economy the way it is.  Owning a home just isn't an investment anymore.  We are taking such a loss on our's that I don't know if I want to go through that again since it seems like the market isn't going to get better anytime soon.  So..if you're going to throw away money every month on a home whether you own it or rent, may as well rent and not have any of the headaches of maintaining it.  We are seriously looking into renting right now too.  Good luck with your move!!

I agree. while we didn't really lose anything in our house, but we sure didn't gain anything except stress! I feel free of this burden. I'm not attached to this house at all..it's just a box we keep our stuff in.

I think renting is a great option for you too, Gina! what if you have to move back again in a year or two? then you'll be stuck trying to sell again. That would drive me nuts. Renting is a great option today. Don't worry about it too much. Just go with your gut. I used to be upset about this situation, but eventually i realized that as long as the 4 of us were together that is all that mattered so long as their was  some kind of roof over our head.

you guys will be fine. Moving to a new place is exciting! I cant wait to get outta here! :)

  • Im sorry to hear about the foreclosure, but good luck in your move!
  • Sorry to hear that but it sounds like you guys did everything you could and that is all you can do. Good luck with the move.

  • Man I remember when you first posted something about your house and how hard it was for you to tell us. I am glad things are working out for you though.
