For you Pet owners...

Anyone having any flea problems this year?  I had to call my vet for alternative ways to treat flea problems because I can't use Frontline on my dogs.  Our female is having puppies in a few weeks and since they play together all the time, we don't want to risk his flea stuff getting on her. I hate that the other pet owners in our complex are irresponsible. It makes me feel dirty even though it's not our fault.  My vet is trying to find us a safe alternative. I've heard Dawn gets rid of fleas, but don't want to use it on them until I know it's safe for her!

 End of vent.

Re: For you Pet owners...

  • Sorry I am of no help
  • First, It is very irresponsible of others in the complex not to protect their pets from fleas. It really makes me ill when people neglect their pets. I hope the vet can find something for you dog.

We haven't had a flea problem this year ( I use frontline on our cat) but we had a ant problem and spider problem. I live in the country literally. I have corn fields on 3 sides of me. I talked to the pest control company and they said this year has been worse then others. They said all the crazy weather has brought out all the bugs.

If your vet tells you about anything natural, post it. I would love to find a better and safe solution for my cat.

  • The vet tech at my vet's office did some research and discovered that Frontline and Frontline Plus are safe for pregnant/nursing pets. It's so hard to combat a flea problem in my tiny apartment when management hasn't done anything about the situation outside. Every time I take the dogs outside, I'm risking bringing more fleas into our apartment.

     I want to move.

    Dawn works wonders.

  • I always wondered why MIL used dawn on her dogs. I thought she was just being cheap.
