Tell me about this trigger attachment you used to paint your dresser please.  Is it an attachment to something you already had or an individual thing I could buy at Home Depot? 

My chairs look like sh!t.  I can't get the paint to go on evenly whatsoever.

FIL suggested I use a paint sprayer like this for furniture.

I used a white lacquer spray paint. They have an attachment to go over the spray paint bottle, it was the best $3 ever spent and saved my poor fingers. Here it is: link

I'm extremely happy with the way it turned out and it was super easy, the paint looks beautiful and even.

Thank you for posting this on am on a hunt this weekend for a dresser for the nursery. I am hoping I can find one at Goodwill to refinish.

Ugh, I wish I had just used spray paint.  My mom told me it wouldn't hold up though.  Plus I had a specific white I wanted to use to match the sideboard we got.  Maybe I'll spray over what I already have... decisions.

CD, thanks for the link.  I'm not spending $80 on a paint sprayer for my 1980's oak table and chairs set.  lol

Oh I just remembered my DH has a spray set if you're interested in borrowing it. Your mom may be right about the paint not holding up since the pieces are actually in use much more than a dresser would be.

Well, we don't really use the dining room a lot... *cough* ever. 

So I think I might go get an off white spray paint (and the trigger thing!) and try it on one of the chairs tomorrow over what I've already done.  Then put a coat of polyurethane over that to seal it? 

I'll let you know if that doesn't work though and might take you up on the spray set!

Sounds like it might work then. What we did was sand it down just a tad bit (I guess the paint sticks better this way). Two coats of primer and about three coats of the lacquer which has a sealant in it. GL!

And you just used regular spray paint in a normal sized can?  How many cans did it take?  I dread the thought of how many six chairs a big ass table will take...

About 2 cans of each (primer and lacquer.) It was Valspar Lacquer Hi- Gloss. Here is a link to the product and some how-to info I found: link
