Running Room

For those runners or beginning runners (like myself) is the Running Room a good place to go to get fitted for new shoes?  I previously went to the running store in Lakeville, which was fine, but thought of trying a new place.  Thoughts?   Thanks!

I don't have any experience with the Running Room. 

However, I have had multiple great experiences with Marathon Sports on 50th/Penn.

I had poor/blah experiences with the Running Room (incorrectly fitted for shoes). I have had good luck at Runner's Gate in Lakeville, though. Especially when the "lady who looks like a runner" is working there. I think her name is Joan (blonde hair & very very thin). She really knows what she is doing when it comes to fitting people for shoes.

While I have personally never been there, I've not heard the best things about Running Room from some friends of mine and over on the H&F board.

I've had great experiences at the Running Room (Uptown) but I think it depends on who you get help from. Like other posters, I hear Marathon Sports is great as well! I was fitted at the Running Room 3.5 years ago and have been wearing the same shoe ever since. The only time I switched shoes I ended up injured and went back to the original shoe and have been fine.

I went to Marathon Sports when I was training to walk the Breast Cancer 3-Day 2 years ago. They were AWESOME. Best fitting shoes I've ever owned, and I've never been afraid to spend decent money on shoes.

I saw Josh Hartnett at the Rumming Room on Hennepin Ave, Mpls.  That was a pretty good experience.    That aside, I've bought shoes there before and have had success.  It can't hurt to shop around a bit though, especially since those puppies aren't cheap.

That would definitely make a pretty good experience!

I will give my vote for the Running Room in Uptown (the only one I've been to) and the Finish Line in Minnetonka.  Both places were great, and along with some of the other posters, I have been in the same shoes (just newer styles) they put me in the very first time.

I was incorrectly fitted for shoes at the Running Room on Grand and will never go back. I went to Run N Fun in St. Paul and had a great experience. They have a treadmill so you can actually run in your shoes a little before buying them.

I have always been told to go to Gear West in Minnetonka. Haven't been yet, I need to get fitted soon. Have been wearing the same model of shoes for 3 years now with no problems, so I am lazy about it.
