My husband and I are building a new home and we're going to have to plant flowers, which we've never done before. What are the best flowers/plants to plant in Ohio?
Re: Plants - Flowers
First, you need to determine how much sun the area gets. You can't pick out plants that will work well without that knowledge first. And learn your USDA zone.
Second, check with your local agriculture extension or a local nursery to find out what plants work well in your area.
Third, pick up a copy of a local/regional gardening gude. Here's one I found for Ohio. I have a similar book and it's been a tremendous resource. It saves me from buying plants that won't work well in my area.
