update: GD

Hi ladies,

I just wanted to thank you all for all of your thoughts and kind words as I dealt with the loss of my grandfather and some of the stresses that have come up during this pregnancy-having to take the 3 hour glucose test.  I also wanted to give a quick update...We had services for my grandpa on Monday morning.  It was amazing to see how many people's lives he touched, especially with his silly sense of humor.  There was so much love and great memories shared.

I did receive an overwhelming phone call that day, though.  It turns out that I do have gestational diabetes and had to see an endocrinologist today.  After a day of freaking out and having a pity-party, I think I'm in an ok place about the whole thing.  We'll see.

Thanks for listening,

Nicole

Re: update: GD

  • I'm sorry to hear about your grandpa!  I am glad you were able to recognize how special he was to so many people at the service.

As for the  GD, I know of others who have gotten this and I know you can handle it.  What will you need to do to keep it in check?  Good luck and take care of yourself!

  • Thanks.  I haven't been on because of computer issues, sorry it took me so long to respond!  As for the diabetes, I've been able to control it with diet, by watching my carb intake and checking my blood glucose levels 4 times a day.  So far, my numbers have looked great so I probably won't have to take insulin or anything.
