Girls who changed their names...
how long did it take for the name change to "stick" w/ family and friends?
Since its my bday, i've been getting a bunch of cards in the mail (yay!) but many are addressed to my maiden name. One was even addressed to "Miss Elise Maiden". I'm guessing its just a little oversight when addressing (i'm 100% sure everyone knows i changed my name) but i'm suprised at how frequently its happening.
Silly thing to be bothered by, i know, but i'm just wondering how long it took for family/friends to get used to your new name?
Re: Girls who changed their names...
Is your new name hard to spell? I ask because the only people in my fam who still sent mail to my maiden name told me later that they didn't know how to spell the new one (it is kind of tricky
). Maybe that's the reason?
If they still can't get it right after they get your holiday cards (btw - I was at Target today, where they already have the holiday cards out. I was browsing and I remembered what you said about getting your cards out first every year and thought of you! haha!), then you've got a problem!!!

I agree that if you send out a TY card and then your holiday cards, it may help to remind them all.
I changed my name on our anniversary and just added C's last to mine instead of my second (already hyphenated) last name. My immediate family knows, but I didn't make an annoucement so don't expect anyone else to use it.
My best friend got married 4 years ago (to a guy) and I still have a hard time remembering that she has a new name. It's nothing disrespectful, I just knew her by her maiden name for the first 20 years of our friendship and my brain is slow at rewiring. It helped to add her new last name to her contact listing in my phone, but the first few times she called I thought "Who's that?"?
?So maybe those people are just clueless and/or slow, like me
They'll get it eventually!??
thanks for the reassurance ladies
i figured it was just a silly oversight, and yes, my new name is much harder to spell that the old one - even my BFF admitted to having to look it up before writing my card
We've already sent the TYs but i'm sure over time with more exposure to the name it'll become second nature.
brit - just so you know how crazy i truly am...we've already ordered our holiday cards and its on my "to do" list for next week to begin working on them. my excuse is that we'll be gone for 2 weeks in november so they have to be done before the HM!

I love it! And that is totally a valid excuse
I almost bought some I saw at Target, but when it came down it, I wasn't sure if they were perfect.
