Short spring break getaway - where would you go?

H and I are looking to do 1 or 2 nights someplace away from Portland over spring break.  We can't get away for more than a couple of days so we can't go too far.  Our list right now is really short - Seattle or the beach.  Any other ideas?  We're also looking to not spend a fortune, so if you've got great (inexpensive) ideas for lodging that'd be awesome.

Re: Short spring break getaway - where would you go?

  • The coast and Seattle are two of our favorites, but Ben is a close third. The downtown is really cute and fun to explore. Sisters looks cute too.

We spent our anniversary last year backpacking just outside of Bend, if you're into outdoorsy things.

Have fun with whatever you choose!

  • I was also going to suggest Bend - weathers nice, its a fun town and lots of different stuff to do.
  • We discussed Bend, as my parents have a house there we can use, but neither of us is thrilled with the idea.  We go there a lot and hate the drive.  If we can only go for one night (not sure yet if H can get three days off) it's too far to go.
  • I'd go for a cute B&B somewhere. My parents stayed at MaMere's B&B in Monmouth last year. I found them through a groupon. It was a pretty cool place and you're close to all kinds of wineries in the area.

We have also stayed at the Trout Lake motel in the past, which feels more like a B&B than a motel. The breakfast is amazing and you're close to Mt Adams and Mt St Helens for hiking.

  • Vegas can be done over a weekend. Even cheaper if during the weekday for 2-3 days.

  • Thanks all!  Turns out we're not going anywhere now.  We just adopted a second dog Big Smile and we don't want to leave him yet, and my dad is having surgery on the 22nd so we want to stay in town for that.  I'm going to save these ideas for another time though.
