Re: Hello out there

  • Hello, hello!  That was a LOT of rain.  I'm so glad we didn't have the flooding they were calling for, at least in my area.  Hope no one else got it either!

  • I heard rain beating against my window, but didn't sound too terrible.  Just a few low rumbles of thunder.  I was hoping it wouldn't get too bad since 1) DH is in St. Louis for business and 2) I sleep through tornado sirens.

  • I still haven't quite figured out the sirens here.  Back home they only go off for tornado warnings so you know when it's bad.  In this town they apparently go off when there's heavy rain, wind, thunderstorms, and tornadoes so no one ever knows when to take it seriously.  It's ridiculous.  The first time I ever heard it go off I took cover in the bathroom and later found out it was only for a thunderstorm, lol.

  • I could probably count on one hand the number of times I've heard the sirens since moving to KY.  I have noticed a "severe storm" chime.  I thought I was going crazy and hearing things the first few times I heard that.

  • I think the sirens sound for any "warning" issues by the National Weather Service - severe storms, tornados, etc.  I can't even hear a siren at my house, so it does me no good.

We got about 3 inches overnight.  Thankfully our basement was still dry this morning when I left for work.  Our sump pump was going crazy.  Hope all is still good when I get home tonight.
