Parents - questions about Wills....

So, I know we should have a Will now that we are bringing a human into this world but I don't even know where to begin. Can anyone give me some insight, please?

I'm CLUELESS! lol

Thanks!

  • If you are just looking for a simple standard will, then you could use legalzoom.com However, depending on your assests you might want to do a trust.

  • There's a weekly plus deal posted this morning for a living will...  not sure if it is exactly what you want, but can't hurt to find out!

We also used legalzoom. I would have liked to have gone through a real, live lawyer and done it, but we sort of ran out of time (and money! ha!), and we wanted to make sure we had something in place before Ryan was born. The most important thing for us was naming a guardian. Our finances are fairly straight-forward, so legalzoom was really easy to use and we feel it's sufficient for now.

  • Thanks ladies! I didn't realize ALL that there was to prepare for a LO! haha I mean, yes, I knew there was a ton but some things I didn't even think about! lol

  • DH and I want to get one done just for the purpose of who would get custody of Brady. We are planning on using the lady jj recommended above. We are hoping to get it completed soon because we've already talked to the couple we want to raise Brady if something should happen to us and we want it legalized. I'm not sure if the "we discussed it at IHOP on this date, at this time, at this location" would hold up.
