I never ever ever do this, but I need to.
My grandma is developing schizophrenia. When she is home, she thinks that the neighbors are spying on her and talking about her. She thinks they have cameras in the walls and are watching/taking pictures of her. She hears voices that they are going to come "kill her".
We went out to dinner last weekend and she is just..loosing it.
She is 86 and has had a very long, wonderful life but it is just SO hard to see her go through this. She is going to have to go into assisted living and my grandpa will go in with her.
Besides a family pet, I have never lost anyone close to me. So prayers for me to stay strong and prayers for a little sanity for my grandmother. (and preferably, my mother!)
Sigh.
Re: kinda XP...Thoughts and Prayers..PLEASE
Sending lots of thoughts and prayers!
Could it be Alzheimer's Disease? Illogical paranoia is often one of the first noticeable signs of AD; this is how my grandmother began when she was 86. This may be worth looking into because there are some therapies for AD patients that can alleviate this symptom (Exelon patch). Sorry, this is kind of my field :P GL with the move, hope it is a smooth one!

Many, many thoughts and prayers to you! We went through this exact same thing with my grandpa and it got pretty bad. He even called 911 once b/c he was convinced the woman who lived in the apt above him was being attacked. He didn't want to go to my parents house b/c "they" would follow him and know where my parents lived. He also ended up going into an assisted living facility, but it didn't really help much. He was never really "diagnosed" with anything. They told us it was Sundowner's Syndrome...basically old people alone at night with many thoughts running through their minds. We also thing it was onset of Alzheimer's. He ended up passing away 2 years ago (for something totally unrealated). It was VERY stressful for us and my mom especially, it's so hard to see your parent/grandparent like that.
Sorry that got so long.....but if you need someone to talk to, please let me know! I've been there and I know how hard it is!

April Nesties March siggy challenge: Next Vacation, Anguilla!!
I will keep you and your family in my thoughts.
I can't imagine what you are going through, but I have known other people having to deal with the same things. Just continue to focus on the positive when you are with her and know that we are all here for you when times get tough.
I will definitely have your family in my thoughts and prayers...I can't imagine how hard this must be, but it is a very real fear of mine to have to deal with this one day. It is so sad to me that for some of our loved ones, the reward of living a long, full, rich life is losing their memory, sanity and sense of well being.
