Bad Pet Parent

and why I know I'm not ready for children..

I used some drain-o to unclog the tub drain this morning. I closed the glass sliding glass doors and came downstairs to grab towels. Upon my return, I see my cat sitting in the tub with the drain-o licking her paws.

I freaked out, and yelled for DH. You could tell she had draino on her fur, but it didn't feel like she had any around her mouth.  I ran to the other bathroom, and started running water and rummaged through the house to find some cat shampoo we had from when she was a kitten. She hated us, I have 3 large cuts on my arm from her nails.

I proceeded to cry for a 1/2 hour while holding her trying to dry her off. DH called the emergency vet and got some info on what else we should do and what signs we should look for.  They said to keep an eye on her for an hour, and see if she shows any signs, and they also told us to give her a few tablespoons of milk. She never gets milk, so she LOVED it.

All in all she seems to be doing fine, and after my freak out with the cat and being irresponsible with the drain-o, I think it shows kids shouldn't be anywhere in the immediate future.
