Long shot: tell me about Branson

DH and I (who, yes, are in our 20s) are staying at my parent's friend's condo near Branson for spring break.

I realize we'll be a third the age of the rest of the spring breakers and the whole demographic trends toward retirement, but please tell me something that can get me excited about Branson.

Don't get me wrong, we're excited to have a free stay and be able to get away for spring break, but so far my Branson research has left me most excited about getting a good book and having a nice long time to read and relax. ;-)

Re: Long shot: tell me about Branson

  • I'm 33, and have been going to Branson for many years!!  Branson's a blast!

LOVE Silver Dollar City!!  Great shops, great rides, great shows, neat craft things.  Love Dixie Stampede.  Even if you're not into country music, this show is a must see!!  You get served a 3 or 4 course meal while watching a live show, in an arena style setting .. FUN!

SIX is not country, an acapella group that is awesome.

RIDE THE DUCKS!!  Very fun, look it up, it's hilarious!! And a blast, and not just for kids.

Go-carts, arcades, mini-golf, the Titanic museum is fun, Ripley's believe it or not, is OK.  Lots of great outlet shopping - LOTS!

Concerts - check the internet, some great groups come through town.

    Great restaurants.

    MUCH, MUCH, more!!  Enjoy!!

  • My college roommates & I had a girls' weekend there a few years ago. We didn't go to any shows but splurged one night for a lovely dinner at the Chateau on the Lake hotel overlooking Table Rock Lake. We also went to the Butterfly Palace which was actually kind of cool and serene.  I'm bummed that we didn't have time to go to the throwed rolls place!

I would check the Branson visitor's bureau for some alternate route maps or find out from the condo owners if there's a good way to avoid the main drag traffic depending on where the condo is. Ours was closer to Old Town Branson & I got so frustrated with the ridiculous traffic jam through the main town! We got a map the next day that had some color-coded routes to bypass the main road and it was much less stressful.

    Have fun!
