I've been going to my dentist since we moved here almost 2 years ago, and hate him. They do a good job and are nice, but they try to sell you EVERYTHING! From advanced cleanings to mouth cancer screenings, electric toothbrushes, mouth guards, and on and on. They are really nice and act like it's to benefit you (which yeah, it is) but i'm not dumb, I know you're trying to make sales! Don't tell me I'm in danger of gum disease and need 3 cleanings a year when my teeth are perfect... scare tactics won't work, jerkfaces!
We're going off dental insurance, and will just be paying for cleanings out of pocket, so if you know how much they are that would be beneficial too. This dentist is $70 for a cleaning, and I'm okay with spending a bit more if it's a great dentist who isn't a salesman.
Re: can someone recommend their dentist?
Awesome, I'll give them a call and find out. I'm worried if I switch I'll have to pay for an exam and then a cleaning, but in the end our dental premium is $700/yr. so even if we have to pay an exam and 2 cleanings each, we should still come out below the $700.
Our dental is a total ripoff.
My mom works for an endodontist and knows pretty much all the practices in the area. What zip codes are you trying to stay in? I can ask her and she'll give me a list of offices.
ETA: She'll also have a good idea of the pricing difference between the offices.
we're in 32257 and I currently go to Jeffrey Schultz
Ok. I'll ask her about it today and get back to you asap.
Thanks! No hurry, JJ went last week and I went today so we've got 6 months to find a new one.... well, unless I want to get periodontal disease then I MUST move it up to 4 months.
LOL. Ok.
I have been going to Sol Brotman for a million years. He has never once tried to sell me anything. He's very honest about how much things will cost too (I had asked about braces or invisalign because of my crooked front teeth). He gave me an estimate and said it would not be a quick fix.
Anyway, the cleanings without insurance are around $90, I think. X-rays cost more of course, but I think they only do that once a year. They recommend a cleaning/general exam 2x a year.
He's located off Hendricks, near Emerson, so it wouldn't be a very far drive for you.
How is it that my BABY is going to be 3?

Just throwing another suggestion out there! ETA: I hadn't been in YEARS and I went here because he was one of our clients and I love him. Everyone there is really good. They sold me a mouthguard, but only because I went in and specifically said "I grind me teeth at night and it's fuuking up my teeth. Halp!"
I go to the same dentist (thanks for the rec, Kristin!), and they're great. Dr. Johns sings while she's working which always cracks me up (she's pretty good lol). She puts a blanket on me so I don't get cold and just generally bends over backwards to make sure I'm comfortable.
