Ok, so 16 days or so ago I discovered Shellac. I think it is just a brand name for gel polish. I cannot keep nail polish on my fingers for the life of me. If two days have gone by and my newly manicured nails are not yet chipped it is a miracle.
Two weeks ago I got a manicure for some meetings the following week. My meetings were Monday-Wednesday so when they asked me if I would like to upgrade to Shellac polish, which they said would last for two weeks, I said sure. I never expected it to last for two weeks, but I thought it just might make it through my meetings.
Well, it turns out it is pretty good stuff. I was chip-free for about 12 days. .
I did go back on Friday to have them re-painted. It was a pain to get the polish off; it takes a lot longer than removing normal polish. Once the polish was off, the whole thing doesn?t take very long (you don?t have to sit and dry once they finish). She started painting and I got to day dreaming ? I thought geeze this gel stuff is great, I should post it on the Nest under a header of ?what miracles have you discovered?. I was going to post about the polish that actually lasts and see what other great things I had been missing out on.
Unfortunately, something went wrong. I was getting a French manicure and I was using bright white for the tips this time (the first time I used natural white). I think something was wrong with the new polish because the woman put it on and the tips bubbled. We had to scrap it all after retrying individual fingers three times. She started completely over with natural white. By the time I left I had been there two hours and no longer felt like writing of the miracles of Shellac.
I log on to my junk mail account today to check out all the daily deals and Crowd Cut has a coupon for $40 for manicure and pedicure with Shellac in New Brighton. If you on Crowd Cut site, as a ?side deal? there is another place in Bloomington that would do a manicure and pedicure with gel polish for $42. The place I go is kind of a ?discount? nail joint and I paid $32 for a Shellac manicure. I thought hmmm, I should tell people about it. While my last experience with Shellac was not great and I know I will likely get Shellac every time I get a manicure now.
I didn?t buy either yet, but I am thinking about it. I do not really need a pedicure with gel nails so I am not sure if the coupon is worth it to me.
Re: Gel Nails....pretty cool
Every female in my office has strictly French nails for meetings, so I just assume I should too. I tried touching up my own nails on a French manicure, but I was not talented enough for that?.
If I could find a nice everyday solid color it might work for me to touch up my own, I just have not found a color I like well that matches a wide range of colors and doesn?t standout to much (not a fan of bright colored nails for normal days).
I was thinking of the money aspect of it?with tip, it is about $36 bucks, which would likely need to be every two weeks so $16/week. Doesn?t sound like much now?but it is adding a regular expenditure and I do not plan on deducting one to make up for it. I wouldn?t need them regularly, but I really like how it keeps me from chewing or breaking them.
There is a "crowd cut?" Offta....as if I needed to be on another deal list. Between groupon, living social, and the blind squirrel my H already hears enough great deals!
Thanks!
