I need some suggestions for a baby shower. This one is going to be held at a local coffee shop. We have rented out a back room that the shop has.
The mom-to-be wants a "nesting theme" and she is dead set on having cupcakes revolved around that, which is okay to me.
The coffee place is providing free coffee, juice and tea. (regular, decaf, lattes, whatever people want). They also said they would donate a quiche (which they are pretty popular at this place) and will let me bring in other food items if I wanted. Since this shower is at 2 p.m., I need some other ideas on what to have with coffee, quiche and cupcakes.
I was thinking about making things that compliment coffee well like muffins, scones, and biscotti. Do you think that would be a good idea?
But then I got to thinking that there might be too much sweet snacks. So would you suggest that I add some savory scones like rosemary and cheese to the mix?
Any other suggestions? Thanks for your help in advance!
Re: Baby Shower Menu
maybe something similar to a tea menu...so little petite sandwiches, you can do a variety of tuna, chicken salad, egg salad, turkey...maybe just pick a few of those...
then there are those little sandwiches with the slice of cucumber on top...
My aunt makes these for easter.
Another idea could be to decorate with origami birds.
I would do tea party type foods too, you could maybe have chicken/egg/tuna salad and croissants/rolls for those who might want something a little more substantial
deviled eggs
prusciutto wrapped melon balls
fruit or veggie tray
What a great location for a shower!
I would consider buying another quiche - depending on the size of the one you're getting and the number of guests. Plus, maybe you can offer 2 different flavors.
I like your savory scone suggestion. I think it goes well with an afternoon latte.
Maybe you can throw in a fruit and/or veggie tray too?
All great ideas in addition to your planned scones! I'd do one of the salad sandwiches on a crossaint plus a ham or turkey n cheese on a mini bun for those who dont like mayo. Have some condiments on the side

This sounds like a yummy menu to me. If you don't want to make a second quiche they sell some yummy options at Costco.
