Beach- Cook Before Food

My family and I will be ging to the beach here in FL either this coming weekend or the following. We don't have a portable bbq and still want more than chips and drinks. Any recs on what to make ahead that will be easy to pack and eat individually?

Re: Beach- Cook Before Food

  • What cooking tools/appliances will you have?  How many days will you be there?

  • sandwiches (pbj?), subs, wraps, fruit salad/watermelon, veggies, hummus/pita, muffins, trail mix, cupcakes/cookies....

freeze bottles of water the night before....

many public beaches have picnic areas with grills too

  • For the four of us, I usually pack a cheese board, knife, baguette, two blocks of cheese, grapes, strawberries, peaches, 1/2 dozen bottles of frozen water, pistachios, swedish fish (a candy) and three grocery bags (for trash).

Of course, we only get beach time in the summer up here.

  • Take a mini cooler and bring some chicken salad, and some pitas to serve it in.  Turkey wraps would also be good at the beach.

BTW, I'm jealous that you are going to the beach.  I had to scrape ice off my car this morning.

  • The above options all sound good.  Fried (or otherwise) cooked chicken is good beach food as well.  It's good cold and easy to transport.

I'm also jealous that you can go to the beach.  We may get more snow here this weekend. :(

  • Thank you ladies, and sorry for my late reply. This Saturday the 12th we will be going and have taken some advice.

We will be their for 1 day and I'll be sure to bring water, watermelon, chicken and turkey wraps along with cheese sticks and of course trach bags. =)

     That should be enough!

  • P.S - Sorry to those that are still in cold/snow temps. We've had 80*s down here recently although it'll be 75* this coming Sat.

Either way we will go since its my only free Saturday untill May. =)
