Do you know what type of flowers these are?

We've been living in this house since June; the bushes along our house are blooming for the first time since we've been here. I think they're gorgeous, but can't figure out what they are. I know nothing about flowers, so if you think you may know what they are, please tell me. Thanks!

Re: Do you know what type of flowers these are?

  • It looks like a tree of some sort, no?
  • I meant to respond to this a little while ago, but I had posted this on Fb as well and my cousin told me that it is a Camellia (sp?) plant. She told me that it is more like a tree...like a Crepe Myrtle almost. Then another friend told me that it is usually a bush but that these are pruned to look like trees. I'm just glad to know what type they are so now I can do a little research.

  • It doesn't look like the leaves of a Camellia, but I could be wrong. I would just take it to a local nursery, they would be able to tell you for sure.
  • No idea, but several houses that we go by when we walk Sadie have this same type of tree, but they've kept in bush form, vs topiary form like you have.  Ours aren't blooming yet, but they have nice big buds on them.

I would just go to a nursery and ask.  Our local ones are very helpful vs. HD/Lowes.

ETA: Also post the pics on the Gardening and Landscaping forum.  Very nice of there and very knowledgeable.
