Places to eat around Dodger Stadium?
Hi Ladies of LA,
DH and I are going to be visiting LA in April (we live in Minneapolis) and want to go to a Dodgers game. We're flying in on Friday afternoon, arriving around 4:30 and want to go to a cool restaurant around Dodger Stadium before the 7:00 game. Any recommendations? Is there anywhere we can walk from the stadium, or should we go somewhere else first?
We are staying in Newport Beach/Balboa Island so will head there after the game.
TIA!!
Re: Places to eat around Dodger Stadium?
1) Are you flying in LAX?
2) Do you want to see the beginning of the game?
If so, realistically, you are NOT going to have time to eat a sit down dinner anywhere before the game. It is a PITA to get from LAX to Dodger Stadium at any time, but on a Friday at that time? After actually landing, getting a rental car/ baggage/ out of the actual airport? You'd be surprised. You could pick up In and Out on Sepulveda just north of LAX before you hit the road. Yum.
After you leave the game, head to Downtown and there are a ton of places you can go- provided the game doesn't last too many extra innings!
And sorry, I forgot to answer your other question. No, there is absolutely nothing within walking distance of the stadium. It's in a ravine by itself- and it's massive parking lot
I found it shocking (literally, shocking) to go to NYC or even San Francisco and stadiums are just in the middle of the city and you can walk right past them. I mean, I guess they just built LA Live Across from Staples center (which you could totally hit up after the game), but I just assumed that all baseball stadiums were off by themselves in a hillside.
I agree with this completely.
Get some N and Out near LAX and head to the ball park.
After the game go downtown and eat a late dinner. I'd recommend Lazy Ox Canteen, Bottega Louis, Rivera, Corkbar, or Drago Centro.
There is literally nothing walking distance from Dodger Stadium, as it is nestled between a semi-residential area and the police academy. Yes, Dodger dogs are pretty amazing, but plan on spending what us locals lovingly call the $40 dinner if you factor in your $12 beers. The hotdogs and beer really add up to one major rip off.
If you're looking for a more LA experience close to the stadium, try out the semi-new LA Live area, right next to the Staples Center. There are a ton of restaurants to choose from. You'll be hitting rush hour, just so you know. Getting in and out LAX (that god awful 105) at that time won't leave you a lot of time to sit down and unwind.
