DH and I are going to Ruth's Chris tonight. Where are you going?
Re: Restaurant Week Poll
I went with friends to Rinata last night. None of us had been there before and it was pretty good. We got there at 6:30 and it was empty, but by the time we left at 8:30 it was packed. The food came out quickly, my caesar salad was good but quite pungent on the garlic and anchovies, my pasta was amazing, however I was under impressed by my cannoli for dessert. However, the 3 of us said that we would go back there and just eat the amazing bread that came prior to our meals.
I really wanted to go somewhere with DH this week but it wasn't in the cards with the budget this time:/
We went to Ruth Chris on Sunday night and really enjoyed it! I upgraded to the Filet for $10 more and it was so worth it. Skip the creamed spinach, it was eh, but the brussel sprouts looked amazing. The dessert that comes with the meal was awesome, so I would skip the dessert upgrade too.
We paid $90 with tax and tip (no drinks) and were fine with that but both agreed we would never pay full price to eat there.
Thanks for the tips! DH has been there before and will not stop talking about it. This will be my first time. I am so hungry now!
I went to the Highland Grill with friends last night. Honestly, I didn't love it. Nor did most of the people in my group. My dessert was awesome, but the appetizer and entree were just OK. It was only $15, and was a lot of food for that price, it just wasn't great food. I think our original selection of Meritage would have been better, but we couldn't get a reservation there.
We're going to Ruth's Chris on Friday night. It's one of Andy's favorites, but I've never been there.
Mr. Sammy Dog
DH and I went to 3Squares last night on a whim because we were out in Maple Grove. It was ok. The pork was tender, but the sides were nothing to write home about.
We're going to Fogo Thursday because that's where DH wanted to go.
We hadn't been eating out at all since we moved to town a few months ago b/c DH hasn't found a job in town yet (cross your fingers, he has an interview Thursday!) so we were really excited about restaurant week.
Yesterday we went to Christos in Minnetonka for lunch. We'd definitely go back. It was better than any Greek food I found in Milwaukee. Both desserts were awesome.
We did Fogo for dinner last night. We'd never go there normally, and even the $30/person is pricey for us, but it was a nice treat. I really recommend the papaya creme dessert. We got the other dessert to go and there's a chocolate mousse cake waiting in my fridge!!
Today we went to Thom Pham's Azian for lunch. It was good, but I don''t see going back. I'm hoping to find a good Chinese place close to Hopkins.
Finally, we have reservations at Joe's Garage Friday night before seeing a Winter's Tale at the Guthrie. And we'll probably be eating ramen noodles for the next three months after spending so much this week!! But it's been so much fun.
DH and I will be there on Friday too! I can't wait!
I was reading on Open Table that Ruth's Chris allows you to bring your own wine for a corkage fee. I had heard of other restaurants doing this, but only if they don't carry the wine you want. I called and she said it applies to any wine and the fee is $15.00. Sounds like a lot, but if DH and I both have a glass of wine with dinner that's easily $15.00, maybe more. So I'm grabbing a bottle of wine from home for tonight. Seems like we're paying twice for one bottle, but it's one way to have wine with dinner, and more than 1 glass!
So now the tricky part, do you factor in the corking fee when deciding the tip?

That's awesome! Wish I would have known. Even with the corkage fee that's a TON cheaper than any of their bottles of wine...
