So bummed

I went in for my HSG this afternoon and they couldn't do it.   The doctor (TMI warning) couldn't get my cervix to open at all.  I had a cone biopsy 6 years ago to remove some bad cells and she said that is probably why it is so narrow.  She was unsure if there was even a way my doctor could fix it.

We were really hoping for some answers.  DH and I both cried the whole way home from the hospital.  I'm going to call my insurance and see if I need a referral to see an RE because I feel like my OBGYN isn't going to be helpful for much longer and it'll probably be awhile before I even hear from her.  The radiologist said she would send the info to her, but we'll see.....

  • I have no idea of what HSG stands for or what RE stands for either, but I know enough of your story to give you a heartfelt "I'm sorry."  You must be so frustrated...just try to stay positive, and be there for each other.  If you guys can get through this, you can get through anything--and hopefully you'll have little ones in your future.
  • I'm so sorry. I know it's hard right now, but try and keep positive thoughts. I hope things work out for you guys!

  • Left HugRight Hug I am so sorry...

Where in NC do you live? I saw a great RE when we were going through our issues and could send you her information...

  • I'm so sorry hon.  I hope you can find an RE that can help.  ::hugs::

  • Sorry to hear about this.  Hope you can find some answers soon.
  • I'm so sorry that you're dealing with this.  I think going to an RE is the best next step.  I feel like regular OB/GYNs aren't as prepared to handle anything that's not a "textbook" case.
  • Sorry, that sounds really disappointing (and possibly quite painful!). I hope an RE will be able to better help you.

Thanks to all of you for your support!

  • I'm sorry Jenna, that does suck. An RE will probably try to dilate your cervix w/ a steel rod in order to do the HSG. It's definitely worth seeing a specialist. I go to Carolina Conceptions & really like them, plus I know a number of others that have had great experiences with them. I know that NCCRM (NC Center of Reproductive Medicine) is in Cary, but I don't really know anything about them. And, of course, Duke & UNC have RE groups. Best of luck, I know it's a tough road to travel.
  • Hey Jenna -

I also went to Carolina Conceptions and had a GREAT experience with them. I would highly recommend that you request a referral to them from your regular OB. I tried to stick it out with my regular OB for years, but there is really only so much they can do and only so much they know.
