Surprise Birthday BBQ menu
I am throwing DH a surprise party and am working on the menu. I need to get it figured out so I can do it all without him knowing. Anyways it is a couple of hours after a March of Dimes walk so all of it has to be done ahead of time. There will be about 25 adults and 25 kids. How does this sound? Should I change or add anything?
Hamburgers/Cheeseburgers
Hotdogs
Potato Salad
Texas Beans (like baked beans but has bacon and hamburger in it)
Chips
Veggie Tray
Fruit kabobs
Trail mix on tables (kind of doing a camping theme as DH won't get to go camping this summer)
Cake and ice cream
Pop, juice boxes, water, beer

Maybe something like turkey burgers or grilled chicken breasts, in case some people won't eat beef/pork. You could marinate the chicken in Italian salad dressing ahead of time and then grill it up, or do an apple brine ahead of time and coat it with white barbecue sauce. Or, if you have to cook it ahead of time, drumsticks would be good to grill a day in advance and then put in the fridge.
Will you have any vegetarians there? You could do veggie burgers or grilled portobello mushrooms ... or skip the idea of turkey burgers or grilled chicken and do one of these, since a non-beef/pork eater might enjoy these.
