I have a book recomendation for anyone wanting to eat healthier.

FOOD FOR LIFE by NEAL BARNARD

I just started reading this book, and it is a huge eye opener.  He is very good at describing the body functions and what certain foods do to the body and health overall. In our terms!

He even suggests that eating a vegan diet can reverse the effects of heart disease, diabetes, and a multitude of other diseases that affect this world.

I am on day two of a vegan diet, although I have been eating healthier for a month now, I have just cut out animal fats from my diet. This includes milk, cheese, yougurt, EVERYTHING.  The other great thing about this book, is that he gives you a 21 day meal plan complete with receipes.

My DH is not too happy as he is an avid meat eater, and hunter.  I just can't help but to think that there is so much truth to what this DR writes as almost every person I know over the age of 50 is suffering from some disease or another ailment.

I would also love to hear from anyone that has/does practice a vegan diet.  As this is a new concept to me, I could use all the tips I can get.

  • I have cousins who are vegan... and they do very well with it.  I don't believe a vegetarian or vegan diet keeps you healthier.  My cousins were overweight and vegans... I think it depends on HOW you eat (vegans can still eat unhealthy..) and what your daily life is like.  One of those cousins decided to start running for herself.. lost a LOT of weight.. looks great.. but nothing changed in her diet.  She's still a vegan.

I say go for it!  I've been trying to come up with meatless ways to eat simply for the fact that meat can become expensive... however, so can veggies.. and DH can be stubborn in trying new things.. lol

but if you come across a recipe you love, please share!  :)  Good luck with your vegan diet!!! I know of others who lost weight doing similar diets!
