Okay, so Ashlee opened the door to this question that people don't generally discuss.. lol... But I've always been kind of curious...

  • Jen, I know you & I have actually discussed this before. & I'm pretty sure it was on a run where my stomach decided to hate me Stick out tongue

  • Pregnancy really slowed things down, and now that I'm BF, all the extra hydration goes to that. So yeah.

Oh, definitely! I feel like most runners are pretty comfortable talking about bowel movements & know more specifics about their bodies in that manner than most people.

  • I think due to my plant-based, super high fiber diet, I may be on the more than normal side... but I can't imagine less than 4-5x per week is healthy. I eat yogurt as well with probiotics and exercise, which I know keeps things moving. Oh, and I drink tons and tons of water.

Poop is definitely something women aren't fond of talking about, but yes, runners do seem to be more open about it. I'd be sure the Dr. knows your situation because gosh, I can't imagine 1x per week. With pregnancy I'm closer to every other day and I feel bloated and irregular.

  • Yeah, my Dr knows. When I found out most ppl go daily, I had 2 simultaneous thoughts -- 1) holy crap what's wrong with me, 2) EVERY DAY?? Really??!?

  • I get cranky when I go a day without pooping, so I can't even begin to think about only going once a week.

  • I like to think that I have such a busy and fabulous life that there's just no room for one extra thing to do ... do.

Thank you for making me laugh out loud. Prepregnancy was one to two times a week. Pregnancy it was hit or miss how often. Post-pregnancy is once a day.

I only go like every 3 days.  Dr. Oz says we should all be going twice a day... Um, I cant imagine that.

  • This thread is crazy to me! I go once or twice a day. I had no idea there were people who went so little.

  • If my morning does not start out with a BM, it makes me cranky. I can't imagine going more than a day.

  • Is it weird that I feel no different if I go often or not often?  I dont get that bloated, full feeling.

  • I'm normally pretty regular.. but pregnancy has slowed that down.. and I do not like it :(

  • i don't feel bloated or full... but it's also entirely possible that I don't know what "normal" feels like since I've always been this way.

It just makes me wonder how ... full... the toilet would be.  eek.

I used to only go every couple days, but ever since I started working full time it's every morning, sometime between 9 and 10 on the dot.

  • I'm a once or twice (or more) a day gal.  Coffee helps to get things going :)

This whole thread is making me LOL!  With you, not at you jenhap!

  • This poll cracks me up, because all we did today at work was compare our pooping schedules. Everyone at work makes fun of me for my poop schedule. I am so incredibly irregular and never go. I am lucky if it's once a week. There have been times where it is a month before my body will go, and I get sick and my clothes don't fit. I hate being poked and prodded by the doctors. I have started eating yogurt as much as I hate it, and it has definitely helped me be more frequent. Still not an every day person, but maybe every few days now.
