So I bought a used camera lens from an online friend, and she shipped it to me with delivery confirmation. I got confirmation this morning at 5:15am that it was delivered...to an address in PITTSBURGH, PA ![]()
How the eff do you confuse MI and PA?! She sent me a picture of the label on the box before she she shipped it and it is CLEARLY written.
It was not insured, of course. I didn't think to ask her to do that, and she said she has shipped a ton of things and never had a problem. They are sending someone back to pick it up, but who knows if it is still there. I have no idea what is going to happen, but it if it is not recovered one of us is out $360.
Has anyone had this happen? I'm hoping and praying that since it was obviously a glaring mistake on their end that it will be covered, but I'm guessing without insurance it isn't going to happen.
I feel sick.
Re: Post Office majorly screwed up :(
Ok here is the story from what we pieced together:
The package was accidentally shipped to my OLD address in Flint, because for some reason Paypal didn't save the changes I made to my profile. No biggie, should have been delivered THERE. Right? Wrong - USPS is claiming my address was never changed, only forwarded for a year. So they sent it to PA to someone with MY name apparently. Um, WHAT?! I changed my address through the USPS website when we bought the new house. And why the heck did it not get returned to sender rather than being shipped to another random person. A quick google search shows there are more than just 2 Jamie's (or James') with my last name. So how did they choose which one to ship it to?
Ridiculous. I may actually puke if the person doesnt return it to the post office. And then I am filing a HUGE complaint.
Honestly, even though you didn't have insurance, I think you've got grounds for the post office to cover the cost of this. There's no reason that they should have shipped it to a random person in Pennsylvania! Good luck!
