Well....I stayed home and ate cereal. Im watching wheel of fortune and hes eating spam with pineapple in rice....who's the winner?!

i wouldn't have told them i hated what they were serving but i would make up an excuse and not go. i wouldn't care if h went without me.

I deal with this every so often actually.  Cause I'm a weirdo and picky with some foods.  The most recent would be New Year's Day.  I do not eat cooked cabbage and rarely eat black eyed peas.  Not my cup of tea... and good lord, the smell of cooked cabbage - why would you ever eat something that smells like fart???

 

So the ILs know this, they are used to it, whatever.  They often have something else available that I can eat.  I am surprised they wouldn't offer anything else for you.  But normally, for me, I would just eat beforehand and nibble on whatever else is available while visiting with the family.  Or drink wine, lots of wine (pre-pregnancy and breastfeeding of course).

NOLA, have you seen me at family functions?!  That was uncanny !  Seriously, though, that's pretty much what I would do.  My ILs are pretty chill, so they wouldn't be offended if I brought something else (I've done that before too).

Sadly my ILs dont drink...anything at all! So I would have water and ... nothing else. No apps, no bread, no salad, and no desert. LAME.

They dont even drink tea/soda/juice...anything
