Do you buy clothes for your DH?

My DH never shops for himself for clothes.  I was looking though his work clothes, and realized that he needs some new shirts.  I feel like it is such a pain in the neck to shop for work stuff for him because a lot of times it does not fit properly, and then I have to return whatever doesn't fit.  He hates shopping though so I never force the issue.

Re: Do you buy clothes for your DH?

  • I do sometimes...when he lets me. Smile He usually buys work stuff for himself though.

  • If I didn't, MH wouldn't have new clothes ever. (well, his mom buys him stuff too for Christmas and birthday).

Ha ha ha ha.  This makes me feel so much better.

  • I do a lot of his shopping and am often encouraging him to get new stuff.  Sometimes he'll pick things up on his own but he always runs them by me for approval before adding them to the wardrobe :)  He's pretty good though in that he dresses pretty well on a day-to-day basis, especially considering he's an engineer.
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Dressing DH is a joint effort. He won't go out and shop without me telling him to, and he's tall and thin so he's really difficult to buy for, but I'm much better at finding his sizes than he is.

Yes!  My DH is tall and thin as well....so it is often difficult to find pants that fit in the waist and have the length.  This is why I end up making multiple trips to return.  The only good thing is that he likes basic stuff.  So once I find one pair of pants he is fine with me buying multiple pairs in different colors.

Mine too! The Van Huesen and Perry Ellis outlets in Wrentham have a lot of clothes that fit him. He has more trouble with dress shirts though than pants. And sweaters, because the sleeves are never long enough!

  • Not usually. We do go together and once in a while I'll pick up a shirt I think he will like, but I promise, 80% of the time he wrinkles his nose at what I pick out.

Count me in this camp.  I don't think he's bought himself one article of clothing since we met 7 years ago.

Haha, same here. My DH doesn't really like spending money on clothes so most of his stuff is pretty cheap but it looks decent. Half of the people in his office wear "geek shirts" with programming jokes on them or something- thankfully he doesn't own any of that haha He will sometimes buy stuff for himself if we're out together but he will NEVER wander off by himself to look for clothes for some reason- I always have to come with him.

Maybe he's afraid the big bad clothes racks will swallow him up :)  I can totally see guys having a panic attack at having to look through racks of clothing and just giving up!
