I need an electrician.

I'm only renting but the house I am renting is pretty gross (I'm finding as I unpack more and more stuff).

There is a ceiling fan in the hall going upstairs to the second floor.  It is filthy dirty and doesn't even have a light.  I want to replace it with a light.

Anyone use anyone recently that they can recommend?

Re: I need an electrician.

  • yes! I sent you a PM with his number. We had our entire house basically re-wired when we bought it. Our initial electrician backed out the day he was supposed to start (about 6 hrs AFTER he was supposed to start actually), and we lucked out finding Issi. He did a great job and was extremely reasonably priced for what we had done.

If it's just replacing a light though, you can probably DIY. I switched out a few lights in our old apartment. Once the power is cut, it's pretty straight forward.

  • I agree, switching out a fixture is actually pretty easy.  Flip the breaker for that area of the house and the new fixture will come with instructions on how to install.  We've replaced quite a few fixtures in our house and it literally only takes a couple of minutes.

  • i can't switch this one cause it is on the stairs so I can't reach it and I'm a little bit uneasy with ladders on stairs.

thanks ladies.  I may be switching a couple of other ones myself.
