pinksprkl or someone who knows about hair :)

So, I've got really fine, wavy hair. I usually run the flat iron through it about 3 days a week, and I need to use some kind of protective serum - my hair seems kind of dry to me. I do use Chi iron guard spray, but I'm wondering if that's not enough. I'm completely open to suggestions.

Re: pinksprkl or someone who knows about hair :)

  • I've used BioSilk. It's a thick serum that you run through the ends before flat ironing. I think you can get it at State and maybe Ulta.

  • I use BioSilk. You can get it at the places Allison mentioned, and I've seen it at WalMart. . You should also be able to buy it from your hairdresser, that's where I get mine.
  • I finally found a new hairdresser and got my hair done last week - he said to throw the flat iron away.  So, I have been drying my hair with the hair dryer and a round brush and it works just fine.  For days two and three after washing, I use the hair dryer and round brush again and it works great too - without the damage the flat iron causes.

You may also consider a Moroccan (clearly spelled incorrectly!) oil -

  • I use Aquage silkening oil before I blow-dry, and then spray Tigi Headrush over each section right before I run the flat iron over it.
  • You need some sort of serum, that's for sure. I hate the CHI spray! I couldn't live without my flat iron, so if that isn't an option, go for bio silk or moroccan oil. :)

  • Yay, thanks girls! I'm pretty low-maintenance in general, but the flat-iron is one of the few things that I don't want to give up. :) Maybe I'll give bio silk a whirl since so many of you like it.
