Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

Ok- so I mentioned a few days ago Im new to the boards- kinda embarrassed to ask, but can anyone fill me in on what some of the common abbreviations stand for?

I thought there used to be a starter post that said ?read this if you are new?. Maybe someone knows about that. I can think of a few. What ones are your wondering about?

MUD ? Made up Drama
YGPM - You got private message

IMO ? In my opinion (some people had IMHO in my humble opinion)

Yup! SO = significant other, but s/o usually means spin off (like a new thread)

board specific:
ndr = not decorating related
nmr or nmmr = not money matters related
etc...if you see n/r it means not related to the board topic
w/r = work or wedding related
p/r = pregnancy related
b/r or k/r = baby/kid related
ku = knocked up
pg = pregnant
bfp = big fat positive (pregnant)
bsc = batshitcrazy
wwyd = what would you do
wdyt = what do you think
wdciiy = we don't care if its you [so why would we care if it happened to your sister's boyfriend's brother?]
DD = dirty delete. When someone deletes a thread they started, usually b/c they were getting flamed. But can also go for any thread deletion. Warn people in your op if you plan to delete later.
op = original post or original poster
b/c = because
xp = cross post (something is posted on more than one board)
tb = the bump
tn = the nest
tk = the knot
yhl = young house love (a blog)
psa = public service announcement
