AW - OB office vent..

So before I was even pregnant I had to be re-scheduled 3 times for my annual physical.  First of all my doctor changed hospitals and is no longer in the area, so I got changed to another doctor, I was scheduled in mid-february... they had to change it again to March 3rd.  I called the week after I had a PPT to find out if I should change my appt or not, they said to just keep the appt and talk to the doctor then.

Fast forward to this week, keep in mind I've already miscarried twice and am hyper-nervous about having a third, so I'm practically ticking off the days until my appt...

Monday I got a call to say that my appt for Thurs (today) had to change b/c my doctor had meetings all afternoon... so I asked for an earlier appt if possible, but I didn't want to wait to long because I'm pregnant and I really want to see the doc.  The secretary is like "You're PREGNANT??"  I said, "Um, yes, I called a week ago and told your office this." Gah. So they couldn't get me an appt with my regular doctor so I took an earlier appointment with another doctor for Tuesday.  So tuesday at Lunchtime I get a voicemail from the OB's office saying that the appointment I scheduled for WEDNESDAY had to be rescheduled because the doctor had to be in meetings... to which I told them that I had an appt for Tuesday not Wednesday - to which they told me that wasn't possible because the doctor was at a different hospital that day. Um Hello get your sh!t together! Geez.  So Finally i conceded to just wait to get to see my new doctor (Whom I still haven't met)... the earliest appt they could get me into is March 17th!  Grr...

To make myself feel better I tried calling my doctor yesterday to ask some questions.  I called and they patched me through to what I later found out was My doc's nurse... however they didn't tell me that was what they were doing so I hung up thinking they got me the wrong number... so I called back, found out it was the nurse, asked to be patched back through, and they hung up on me.  WTF. SO I called back a 3rd time, and finally got a voicemail through to my doc's nurse.

She called me today while I was at work, then I called her back and she didn't answer. FINALLY she called me at nearly 5pm and I got a few questions answered and a request for bloodwork tomorrow to find out if I can hopefully go in sooner for an U/S. GD it took 4 days for that. Ho-Lee-F!.

  • Um yeah, my next call would be to a new doctor.

Is there any particular reason that you would be loyal to these people? Because it sounds like they pretty much suck raw eggs.

  • Because the other hospital in the area is awful... and my experience with this office last time when I miscarried and had to have my D&C was so great that I wanted that again, however my doc left :( Although I have heard great things about my doctor, I haven't even seen her yet, apparently she's in high demand and is really hard to get into, which makes me want to see her more... but I feel that if the office staff had a frickin clue this all wouldn't have happened :(

  • personally, I'd see a new doc.  If this doctor is in high demand, your whole pg may be like this.  I would rather go to a less known doc (who may be just a qualified and have better patient contact) and put my anxiety at ease.  Once you see your doc, maybe you can share your concerns about the office staff?

  • Wow, I'm would probably be in the "find another doctor" boat after that sort of treatment, but if you're really adamant about using this doctor, I would see how your first actual appointment and interaction go, and you can always re-evaluate after that if you still feel like the office is all over the place. Fingers crossed that everything goes well from here on out with you at the practice!
