Hi! I've been accepted to Purdue so we'll be moving to the
West Lafayette, IN area in early August. I know this is still 5 months
away but we're excited and I like to make sure everything is planned
ahead of time. So, I just wanted to introduce myself because I'm sure I'll have lots of questions as we get closer to moving.
Does anyone have any suggestions on
good areas to look into living? Any websites to look at for pet
friendly rental houses? TIA
Re: We're moving to Indiana
Look on rent.com. If you get a place that you found on their website, they send you a $100 gift card.
Also if you're from somewhere warm, be prepared for the winters here!
Congratulations on getting accepted to Purdue! I got my bachelor's degree there in 2009.
If I can give any advice it is to NOT live at Waterfront apartments on Brown Street. I lived there for 3 years in 2 different apartments and they didn't give us our deposit back either time. The first time it was because the painters left water bottles and the second time because there was a spot of jelly left in the refrigerator. They told us the only way to get the deposit was to take them to court. So, don't live there even if they offer your a brand new Farrari, it's not worth it.
Good luck with the search and Boiler Up!!!
Welcome aboard. I've been in Lafayette/West La La for nine years now. I work at Purdue. There are lots of places to live, it just depends how close you want to be to campus...which also will affect the prices.
I lived in Ashley Oaks apartments up until I got married in 2004. It was nice and the prices weren't bad. I now live on the South side of Lafayette, where there is lots of new building going on.
If you want a house, there are lots of options. For rentals, they do a housing guide every year at the student paper (purdueexponent.org), so there may be something helpful there.
Holler if you have any questions.
