RE:Farrells vs kosama

What was the consensus on this?  I am curious myself.  I walked into a Farrells yesterday to get the paperwork and it looked like a regular aerobics class, I was slightly put off by that.  Makes me think I should just do a bunch of classes at the Y but I guess they don't hold you accountable there!

Re: RE:Farrells vs kosama

  • I haven't done either, but one of the moms at Cohen's daycare has done both and prefers Kosama. More flexibility and variety.
Happy mom to two sweet, silly boys: Cohen age 4, AJ age 2.
  • I don't know that there's a consensus - I opted for Kosama because of the price and the variety, and I heard more first-hand experiences from others.  You'll hear others rave about Farrell's.  There's also a "Goals in Motion" in Des Moines that a friend of mine from college did, and she's a walking advertisement for them.  She looks great, and raves about the experience.

  • The "aerobics" part you saw was the warm-up.  That's what they have you do before you get the bags out.  I did Farrell's and loved it!  My sister has done both and loves them both.  Either way you will love it!
  • I'm still on the fence.  Are you going to do the Farrells at Beaver?  That's the one I'll be going to unless I go with Kosama in which I'll be in WDM.  I'm leaning towards the 745pm class at Farrells....

You probably saw the resistance/bands training. That's on T, TH, Sat. The kickboxing is MWF

I can send you an email with a bunch of info/personal opinion on Farrell's that I just sent to shea77. Just send me an email!

  • Goals in motion is the best!!!! :):) I lost 20 lbs in 9 weeks after Michael was born and got into awesome shape!! ....and then I got pregnant again. :( it is cheaper and you have a ton of support with a food coach and healthy eating classes.

  • I'm currently doing Kosama in Ames and I love it!  They have something different each day so you don't get bored doing the same thing over and over.  I've never done Farrell's though so I can't do a comparison.  Below is the typical Kosama schedule.

     Monday- Upper Body

    Tuesday-Plyometrics (kick your azz cardio)

    Wednesday- Kettlebell

    Thursday-Kickboxing

    Friday-Lower Body or circuts

    Saturday- Yoga
