Anyone have recommendations of where to shop for decor for a 3-year old boy's bedroom? We haven't changed the wall color of Cohen's room since it was a nursery. Besides painting, I'm looking for wall stuff, window panels, comforter, maybe a rug. He loves typical boy stuff... trucks, trains, sports. Target has decent stuff but I'd love to see other options. Higher end stores like Pottery Barn are not in my budget.
Thanks!
Happy mom to two sweet, silly boys: Cohen age 4, AJ age 2.
Re: Boy's bedroom decor
I don't know if this is an option for you, but it's what I plan to do for LJ once he's older (I think??). Let me see if I can explain it.
Here is his room right now (well, sort of.. this is an old pic from when we had just moved in):
His walls are more sky blue. See that patch of 'grass'? I'm going to basically paint the lower half of his walls a green grass color. So top half sky blue, bottom green grass. Then in the middle, like a thick border, I'm going to paint a road using magnetic paint. A big, thick black magnetic road complete with white dashes (am I explaining this right?). Then use small toy or felt cars with magnetics on the back so he can basically race around his room.
Kind of like this lamp, but a border on his wall between the green and blue:
Then little cars knobs for his dresser, etc. I also saw some fun 'road map' rugs at the ReStore that you could easily incorporate for cheap. So I guess I'm just waaay too excited to do this room because I didn't exactly answer your question and went off on a tangent. But at least that would be a fun option for you if you didn't want to just do wall decor, etc

We actually just got Jackson some big stickers from Fatheads.com -- they have much more than just sports. We did some cartoon looking monster trucks, excavators, tractors (all things he loves). Since they are all seperate stickers we are going to paint the walls tan and put a "road" around his room and place the stickers on the road.
If you sign up for fatheads email list, they instantly send you a coupon. I received 20%, but my sister received 50%...we used hers
I think we got 8 monster stickers for $40.
We are going to do an orange comfortor on his bed to match some of the construction cones that we have in sticker form.
When we moved here I had G's room done up all things transportation.
walls: painted sky blue (NOT baby boy) then the middle/bottom half were rolls out with a vibrant grass green color to create the look of hills.
decals: I bought a lot of wall decals from etsy (just search transportation vinyl wall decals or similar) and bought some from other sites. There was one etsy site in which you can have the item personalized (I have a school bus that says 'Grant's School Bus' and a truck that says 'Grant's Trucking Co') + some could decals + some helicopter/plane decals.
Curtains/bedding: If you search target/walmart/etc for transportation theme bedding you will find a few different patterns.
I don't have a picture to post of G's room but here is a link of where I got my inspiration ( I did NOT paint/stencil on all that stuff - I thought that seemed more difficult lol): http://www.mywonderfulwalls.com/transportation-theme.html
If you click on the wall mural stencil kit link for the transportation theme you will see another link to see actual painted room images.
