Who has a septic tank in their backyard?

We moved into our new house in October and obvs have done no landscaping whatsoever. But, my question is what do you do with a lawn that the majority is taken up with a septic tank? There are two large concrete covers and an aeration pipe that I have no clue how to disguise. Ideas?

Re: Who has a septic tank in their backyard?

  • The old owners put monkey grass around ours (we have one obvious cement cover and another access point that's covered with dirt).

We're going to add a paver patio in the backyard, and I may put a table over the lid to hide it.

You should find out where your leach field is and make sure that you don't plant anything in or near it that could cause problems.

You'll find some tips at that link about planting in a leach field.
