Vacuum

I am looking for a vacuum that will go from carpet to locking laminate flooring? Anyone know of a good one? Suggestion? Ones not to purchase?

Re: Vacuum

  • We have a Kirby Sentra. We have both kind of floors as well in our house and it works wonders.  We also have two kitty's indoors and it really picks up cat hair.  Also it has a carpet cleaner on it.  I really like it.

The downfall?  The price.  It's not cheap.  The deciding factor for us was two things.  One when the sales guy showed us using coffee filters the suction power of our old vaccuum compared to this new one (it showed what stuff each picked up...talk about disturbing when I saw my old one wasn't picking up some of the stuff that the kirby was).  Two was the allergen factor.  My hubby has ashtma and so it's crucial that we get duts/cat hair/ etc up and this one works excellent at that.

When I figured in all the factors and how long it will last us, and the warranty on it, we decided to go for it.  But I do recommend it.

To go a little bit cheaper but I have heard they are good vaccuums, try a dyson.  I know lots of people love those.

  • I may have to check that one out. We have a doggie that sheds like crazy so that would be great and my dh too has allergies. Do you mind me asking a price range. Maybe I could ask for it for christmas from family or something. Thanks!

  • Around the $1000 mark...yeah I freaked when I heard it...I was like for a vaccuum????  It was ultimately my DH who decided it would be worth it and the guy let us pay in installments...so we paid it off in 3 months.  i could handle it better breaking it down like that lol.  I just never thought I'd buy a vaccuum for that much!!  But so far it's been worth it...we have had it for almost a year.  I really enjoy the carpet cleaning feature on it.  It saves us from having to rent one.
  • I am trying to remember what model ours is.  It was not expensive - we just went to Lowe's or Home Depot (can't remember which) and bought it.  I *think* it's a Eureka.  It's yellow, and it has a knob on the front that you can switch from high carpet all the way to bare floor.  It is great for pets!!

Isn't it funny how I can vacuum every 2 days and not even remember what kind of vacuum it is?  lol :)
