what are the pros and cons to getting an iud?  i believe there are two different types- which one is the best?!  thanks.

Shea, when I get mine put in (after the next baby) it will be paragard. I don't do well with hormonal bc so paragard is perfect for me.

I had the Mirena and loved it! Seriously it was great and I had no issues with it. I had very slight cramping for about 1 hour after they put it in, but that was it. I thought it was great not having periods; however some people don't like that, they prefer to have one every month. I have nothing negative to say about it.

I have Mirena and love it. Like mz-n-ss said, there was some slight cramping upon/after insertion (take 800 mg ibuprofin before going). I haven't had a period since November.

All-His

I had mirena in between the girls. I don't need BC now b/c dh is "fixed," but I might just get it again anyway b/c of all the fabulous side effects - namely avoiding my extremely painful period.
