Feeding (voluntary) movers

I know this is early for me to ask, but I want to know if I can pack my crockpot or not!

We are planning on picking up the UHaul as soon as the location opens (8:30am, I think). We'll get some friends and family in DM to help us load the truck. Obviously, everything will be boxed up, but it will still take time to load the truck, especially if it ends up just being 2 or 3 of them. (And I won't be able to do anything!) So i'm thinking we'll need to feed our F&F something for lunch, even if they are finishing up around lunch time.

I don't think anyone is going to follow us down to C-town, but we'll have F&F down there as well to help us unload everything. We'd probably stop mid-way through the evening to eat. Depending on how long it takes, we may have to finish unloading in the morning. (We'll have the UHaul for 2 days anyhow as it's cheaper to take it back to Stuart instead of dropping it in C-town.)

I was thinking sloppy joes, chips, and something else for lunch. I could have the sloppy joes in the crockpot first thing in the morning. When the guys get hungry - whether it be 11 or 1 - they could grab a sandwich. Use disposable plates and flatware so I wouldn't have to worry about washing and packing dishes.

I'm thinking we won't get to C-town until at least 3, but who knows how long it could really take. Would pizza be the best option for dinner?

What about if we still need help the next morning? Pick up donuts, overpriced cut fruit, milk, and juice at HyVee and hope it's filling enough?

Re: Feeding (voluntary) movers

  • When we have F&F help move, we ususally do pizza and beer.  It might be a little more $ but then I don't have to worry about it and it can be delivered.  2 moves ago, I was pregnant and I stood at the back of the truck and directed where everything went, so I didn't have a lot of time to make/deal with food.  Whatever you decide, will be appreciated though!  I hope that it all goes smoothly for you!!
