favorite shade flowers

 What are your favorites? I'm moving from a sun soaked apartment to a new apartment with a patio that has a lot of shade - and I have little experience with shade loving flowers. Love lots and lots of color, the more the better. Thanks!

impatients. bloom all summer. you don't have to dead head. we can get them in red, pink, salmon, white, purple. they are annuals. they work fine in containers. you should be able to find them in any garden center. begonias as also very popular.

 I love impatients. I don't know why but I had it in my head that they were a part-sun flower.

I assume you want annuals since you'll be moving eventually is that right?  Are you planting in containers on your patio or not?

Yes, I'll be planting in containers. Annuals are preferable, since we don't know when we're moving out. Could be 1 year, could be 5.

Well you have a lot of choices then!  New Guinea impatients have larger flowers than the standard ones, begonias, forget-me-nots, panties, fuschia, browallia, or wishbone flower would all work great too.  It's also nice to mix in some non-flowering selections like coleus, caladium, and fox tail ferns for contrast.  Go see what your local nursery has.  I'm sure you'll find a lot!  Here's some ideas for shade containers that might help:
