PIP: New counters today!!
Our granite counters were installed this morning as well as our new sink. DH was kind enough to send a picture :-) I can't wait to go home and see it!!!!!!!!! Ignore the in-progress back splash - that is what was left when we ripped off the old stuff!

And a before shot from our home inspection walk-through 3 years ago! Yuck!

Re: PIP: New counters today!!
Wow, what a difference!
Did you just paint the existing cabinets white, or did you get new cabinets?
Mr. Sammy Dog
We painted the frames since they were in good shape and got new drawers and doors. We were okay with the configuration of the cabinets so that seemed like the cheapest option. The old doors were pretty bad - we tried repainting them at first but they just looked icky when we went to reinstall them so we scrapped them and got new. :-) I loooooove them now.
It looks fantastic! I love the sink. What is the backsplash going to be?
I'm so jealous. I wish we could paint our hideous country looking cabinets white. If we did, we'd have to replace the equally hideous off white counter top and appliances, though. And that's just not in the budget right now.
Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.
We're leaning towards 3"x6" glass subway tile in a pale sage-y green with an accent strip of 1/2"x1" pieces in varying shades of green. We chose that a long time ago though when we had a completely different sink and counter picked out so we still may change our minds. It's the last thing to nail down 100%. I'm not totally convinced it will look good with the floor tile that is sitting in the garage waiting to be installed...
TOO MANY CHOICES!! :-)
eta: This is the feel we're going for but not these exact tiles.
Ooohhhhh, I love it! I love glass tiles.

I do too! :-) We've done almost everything else DIY in there but I'm thinking I want to have a pro install the glass tiles....I'd be nervous about cutting them, especially the small ones!
I LOVE the look of dark wood floors with white cabinets and black counters but we have wood everywhere else in our house and I don't want it in the kitchen so we decided on a dark brown floor tile that has an abstract grain-ish look to it. I like it because it's not trying to look exactly like wood but has some texture to it. We're doing 12"x24" subway pattern.
We just bought this tile from the Tile Shop for a backsplash in our kitchen. Might work for an accent tile in your kitchen? Or maybe not green enough? They have a lot of great stuff there ... here are all the backsplash tile options. You can negotiate on price there, too. I did not pay $22.99 per SF for this tile, but that's the listed price.
Here's a photo of what we bought:

The natural stone in that wouldn't work with the black granite I think but I think it is pretty! We know what's out there it's just a matter of choosing - that's the hard part. :-) I actually have what is essentially a mini tile showroom in our product library at work. Some days I go and sit and sift through tile boards to get ideas. The awesome thing about whatever we end up selecting is we can get it 40% off because we're both in the design biz!!
Looks great, Kiz!
SJB - I almost went with that exact same tile for our backsplash. Instead I opted for this one:
I was able to get enough for our (very small) kitchen for $150.
