WW Accountability Week 3

I still haven't weighed in or retaken my measurements yet. I think not seeing progress would be detrimental to the efforts I'm making.

I think last week was a LOT better, in terms of changing habits. I managed to cut 3 points from my lunch (no more Baked Lays!). I stuck with a salad with a TON of fresh veggies and some beans four days a week. On my splurge day, I had Indian food buffet with DH. It wasn't fast food at my desk, and we both at a smaller dinner that night.

I was feeling REALLY deprived at the weekend, and wanted to do some baking. So, I did. I made snickerdoodles, but kept them really small (the cookies were about an inch across when done). That way, I could have some, but not go overboard. I also made PW cinnamon rolls. Between that and a less-than-optimal dinner on Saturday night (two chili cheese dogs when I could have just had one and been happy), I could have had a better week.

BUT I also think adding exercise would have negated those big-points choices, and I've put time at the gym in my outlook calendar in the middle of my workday. It's totally fine with my team, so that's good. I've got time blocked out through March, hoping to start a habit.

Today (wouldn't you know it) I didn't have access to the work gym (at least not in the morning at my scheduled time, I might have it by this afternoon). But I will for the rest of the week.

So that's the goal: Keep going with the positive strides, make good choices on splurge Wednesday (going to Red Robin with a friend, so will have options there), enjoy my weekend (but keep making good choices too), and add in some activity points.

DH and I talked about starting to walk the dog along this cool trail near our house. So maybe that will be an option I can add in over the weekend, too.

Re: WW Accountability Week 3

  • I just wanted to say that I'm really proud of you for working towards your goals and thinking about your choices. My mom lost over 100 lbs on WW by really thinking about what choices she wanted to make and changing her overall lifestyle which is exactly what you've listed.

    Cheering for you!

  • I think it's great that you realize what would benefit you, and that you're letting yourself ease into, and making smart adjustments!

For me last week wasn't great for Yoga but my eating was pretty good. We had a pot luck on Thursday so that wasn't great, but we didn't overdo the bad stuff too much. Then over the weekend we were in SF and on our way back we had hungover people who need pizza and who was I to argue even though I was sober? So we got big greasy slices from Pizza My Heart in Emeryville and it was delish. Hubby had plans Saturday night so I got a 2nd piece of pizza for my dinner, and then had to get a cupcake at the bakery next door so Saturday definitely sucked, but I was back on track on Sunday. I'm also happy to say I went back to the gym this morning-it's been way too long, and although i like Bikram Yoga and feel it's helped I also miss working out such as running and weights. I'll still do yoga a few nights a week but will be working out in the a.m. again.

I have 2 vacations near water (swimsuits-yikes!) in 3months and I'm in a wedding in 6 months. I still have a desire to do a triathalon, so that's on my goal list too.

Weight wise no change, but Body Fat % went down over 1% since early January so I'm happy-especially since I wasn't doing much during that time.

    Wow, that's good!

  • That is awesome.

I think I will be checking in with you as I started WW on Friday. This weekend was tough as I always thought about food and at times I was hungry in the evening. So what I did is I had a little snack in the evening. Then I "bulked" up my dinner Sunday night.

oh and we (meaning DH and I) got rid of all the junk food in the house. Too much temptation.

Totally necessary. We do a good job keeping the house relatively junk food free. I know, because whenever I'm desperately looking for a snack, all I can find are fruit, veggies and pretzels. :)

But then there are times when Jimmy Fallon releases an ice-cream flavor with chocolate-covered potato chips, and I run out to the store to see if it's in stock yet (no, thank goodness!). Smile

  • I indulged in lots of carrot cake and lemon bars this weekend.  Ugh.  But I am back on track today!  And I joined a pound for pound challenge at the gym so I am hoping it will motivate me when it starts!!!

Yes, DH and I were craving sweets BIG time so I pulled out these dark chocolate caramel wedges from Trader Joe's. 2 wedges = 2 pp+

  • Good job! I think easing into things is a smart way to go. I like this post!

I've been doing WW online for 7 weeks now and feel like it gave me the motivation to clean up my diet A LOT. I've only lost 6 pounds so far (I weigh-in tomorrow, so hopefully a little more then), but my body has changed so much, and I feel so much better. My workouts are SO much stronger now that I'm consistently eating the right things. I eat a lot (and would maybe lose faster if I made an effort to cut down my portions), but it's all healthy and it's working, so it doesn't feel wrong.

It feels kind of silly, but WW makes it kind of fun, like the whole thing is a game. Somehow mentally it feels so much less restrictive than counting calories, even if in the end it's almost the same thing. I'm officially a fan!

OMG! Me too. I keep telling DH, oh well this is 2 PP but I can have this for only 1 PP. This new program really makes choose fruits and veggies. For example, I had my greek yogurt and some pineapple and it was only 2 PP...LOVE!

YAY. I agree. It's worked well for me.

And DH is down about 160 lbs thanks to WW. :)

I like it because it takes into account more than just calories. I could count calories all day ... but taking fiber, fat and whatever else into account would be way too much math for me!

Besides, I love that we now recognize that Ho-Hos are not nutritionally equal  to an apple!

They're not??? Shoot... I thought the quote was "a ho ho a day..."  ;)

I know, right?? A little game each day where you tally up your points and at the end of the week you find out if you won that round. :)

As PP said, I like that it takes everything (ok well not everything, but enough things) into account and gives me one simple small number to deal with. But what I love the most is that if I totally screw up my eating and go crazy on some meal, I can use my weeklies, compensate by eating better the rest of the week, and not ever feel like I've "fallen off the wagon" and should just stop trying.
