AW: Registered for my first 5k!
I finally pulled the trigger and registred for a 5k!! DH and I will be running the Breeze against Wheeze 5k on May 7.
I'm excited....and nervous! Exactly 8 weeks to go...
Re: AW: Registered for my first 5k!
Thats awesome! Good luck!
I haven't officially registered yet, but I am in training and will be registering next month for my first 1/2 marathon.
Is this to benefit CF? If so, that's very cool. Close friends of our family just lost their little cousin to CF around Valentine's Day, she was only 14. Certainly a great cause.
my read shelf:
It's actually not for CF, it's for Asthma. It's put on by an area university medical school and it's to raise money for their Asthma Camp. I wish it was for CF though - my (twin) sister actually has CF and I've really been wanting to volunteer for something. I've emailed my area chapter twice and have never received a response....oh well I guess.
@kpshoneybear - I've actually only done 1 day of c25k! haha. I started on Monday. Since I've been going to the gym at least 2x a week for the past few months, I decided to start off at week 4. So I'm going to do week 4 twice, just to get into the running routine, and then move on from there. I'm giong to try to get my 2nd run in today - but I'm going to Ash Wednesday service right after work today and then right to the gym for Zumba class....maybe I can get in a partial run before Zumba. How are your runs going?
It's too bad about the CF, but my little brother has asthma and still pushed himself to be a runner in track and even cross country. He had some crazy asthma attacks at some races though, the research is still needed. Maybe you could run another race and run for charity/CF yourself. I've heard of people doing stuff like that anyways...They get sponsored per mile or to run in such a set time limit. I think it sounds kind of motivational to do it that way.
My runs... haven't started. I was planning on the first wk of March, but Velvet has a knee injury and now she is consuming all of my free time I would normally divide into work out/run time. The 3rd level of jm 30ds is mostly cardio, and I've done pretty well with that. Hopefully I can dive right in when I start. Kind of what you're doing
